Therapeutic Practitioner

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for two Therapeutic Practitioners, to work in the Coulsdon area. The residential service operates as a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE). It offers a 24/7 safe, supportive environment for adults living with severe, complex mental health conditions, dual diagnosis and who may have experienced multiple placement breakdowns.

The successful candidates will be required to work 40 hours per week, between Monday - Sunday on a rota basis of early (9AM - 5PM) and late (1PM - 9PM) shifts. Temporary cover is required for 3 months with the possibility of transferring to permanent. The pay rate for this role is £13.85 per hour, with £2.01 holiday pay, totalling £15.86 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;
- Support a caseload of 3-4 clients in initiating and/or progressing their recovery journeys so that they can achieve more of their aspirations and potential in life
- Facilitate various groups within the community under the supervision of the Service Manager and Community Psychologist
- Work within a Psychologically Informed Environment model
- Co-produce clear and structured recovery, risk management and move-on plans with clients, working with the client both formally and informally towards their recovery goals
- Build supportive and therapeutic relationships with clients through dialogue
- Maintain excellent working relationships with Care Teams and Families
- Aid clients in integrating into the community, both within the service and in the wider community
- Participate in all areas of community life, supporting clients both practically and emotionally in informal and formal settings including assisting with cooking/cleaning
- Administer and support clients with their medication in line with the organisation's procedures
- Work with clients to develop and work towards their recovery plans
- Participate in formal reflective practice sessions run by the Community Psychologist
- Lead on certain administrative roles as directed by the Service Manager such as Medication Management, Health and Safety and Petty Cash
- Keep in mind the aspects of Safeguarding and work with an understanding of Mental Capacity and Dignity

To apply for this role, you must have:
- Experience of working with complex mental health conditions
- Experience of working within a recovery orientated approach to supporting adults with complex presentations
- Understanding of the recovery approach and support requirements of people with mental health and other associated conditions.
- Ability to establish an effective working relationship with clients which is attachment centred and based on the recovery approach including the skills for comprehensive assessment and action planning
- Have good interpersonal skills including active listening, clear and thorough information sharing and good verbal communication skills
- Ability to respond appropriately and effectively and de-escalate situations when faced with challenging or violent behaviour
- Experience of administering medication
- Good written, numeracy and administrative skills e.g. ability to accurately and competently record comprehensive assessments, action plans and letters
- An awareness and understanding of Health & Safety issues related to working in a residential service
- Desirable; Certificate in counselling skills or other similar and relevant qualification or experience of engaging in own psychological therapy
