Floating Support Worker

Central is currently recruiting for a Floating Support Worker, to work in the Westminster area. The service provides housing related support to clients at risk of homelessness with varying vulnerabilities to enable them to live independently within their own home.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working from Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1-2 months. The pay rate is £12.74 per hour, with £1.54 holiday pay, totalling £14.28 per hour.

Please note: you will mainly be supporting clients within the community and their own homes.

In this position, you will be required to;
- Hold a caseload of up to 27 key clients and carry out regular key working sessions resulting in agreed SMART support plans which are reviewed regularly.
- Complete comprehensive and high quality risk and needs assessments and risk management plans.
- Work in partnership with other departments, external agencies and external specialists to ensure that client needs are assessed and addressed appropriately.
- Provide a shorter intervention for clients who are moving from temporary to permanent accommodation, including supporting clients to bid and view properties, pack up their current property and settle into new accommodation.
- Provide housing advice to clients in order for them to maintain their tenancies including advising clients of their rights and responsibilities as well as advocating on their behalf as necessary.
- Support clients to upskill regarding daily living skills, to enable them to sustain their accommodation independently, including bill management, and household management
- Support clients to develop and maintain the social skills necessary to ensure positive neighbourhood relationships are developed and maintained.
- Take part in running activities or groups in response to identified client needs.
- Support clients that are ready to move into work, education or training to access suitable courses or placements.

Please note, this role involves lone working

To apply for this role, you must have;
- Experience of working with homeless clients with additional complex needs including substance use and mental health.
- Experience of holding a caseload, conducting support plans and risk and needs assessments
- An understanding of how to support clients to carry out tasks such as budgeting, calculating benefit entitlements, manage rent arrears and managing bills.
- An understanding of housing legislation, types of tenancies and renter rights
- Experience of working in a client-centred support service working with vulnerable people presenting significant levels of need and risk.
- An understanding of the range of approaches appropriate to working with issues such as substance use, mental and physical ill health, dual diagnosis, challenging behaviour, risk of homelessness and offending.
- The ability to effectively liaise with a range of service providers and agencies in order to establish or improve services for clients
- A good and current understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments.
- The ability to work within a strengths and recovery based model, and engage and motivate people to move towards an appropriate level of independence and inclusion
- Experience of Floating Support
- The ability to use a computer to input data accurately
