Quality and Standards

As a major provider and contributor to the social care industry we take our responsibilities seriously.  Within this section you will find information regarding our Recruitment Practices, Quality Management Systems and a number of our Policy Documents.

Recruitment Practices

Central Care is a preferred provider with the majority of our customers and we have an established reputation for high levels of service, thorough recruitment practices and for the quality of the candidates we present to our customers.

The Service Level Agreements we have with the customers who have chosen us as a preferred provider stipulate stringent vetting procedures, which are regularly audited. We not only fully subscribe to these procedures we are very often instrumental in their design.

Vetting procedures

Central Care's vetting procedures match and very often surpass the levels expected within the social care sector. Our vetting procedures include:

· Comprehensive CV assessment
· Full online application form
· References covering five years (with all gaps accounted for)
· Six point supporting statement (see candidate assessment below)
· Face to face interview
· Proof of identity
· Proof of the right to work in Britain
· Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check

Candidate assessment

One of the major reasons we have a very high success rate in the placement of staff is the method we use to assess our candidates. Prior to attending a full in-depth interview, all candidates are required to complete a supporting statement to demonstrate an understanding of the key issues related to their work and their ability to communicate in writing. The supporting statement covers the following areas:

· Keyworking and Support Planning
· Managing Challenging Behaviour and Aggression
· Customer/Service User Involvement
· Professional Relationships
· Risk Assessment

Candidate interview

When we have verified the candidate's background and we have satisfied ourselves that the candidate has the industry experience, we undertake a full in-depth interview. The interview is our opportunity to assess whether the candidate has the skills, experience and value base to deliver a safe and positive support service to our customers.

During the interview the candidate is asked to give examples of work based experience relating to the areas covered in the supporting statement. The candidate is also asked to describe how they manage situations relating to challenging behaviour, professional relationships and health and safety.

Training

Once registered all Central Care workers have free access to Central Training's comprehensive programme of open courses and e-learning programmes. We provide access to Safeguarding Adults and Health & Safety e-learning and where appropriate service specific mandatory training.
